On the theme of Mary, our autumn programme brings beautiful Renaissance polyphony from Victoria, Byrd and Clemens non Papa together with reflections by contemporary composers Neil Cox and Owain Park, as well as Edvard Grieg.
We will sing a variety of Marian motets, including Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Ave Maria and Willaim Byrd’s Senex Puerum, Clemens non Papa’s O Maria vernans rosa and Neil Cox’s O Maria vernans rosa. A highlight will be learning and singing one of maestro Park’s own compositions celebrating the Virgin Mary.
We hope you can join us for this opportunity to explore a unique comparison of the old and new of Marian musicology. Rehearsals will be held in the magnificent American Cathedral, located in the heart of Paris, a stone’s throw from the Champs Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe.
