A word from Maddy

Dear all,

We are excited to announce that Rory McCleery, founder and artistic director of the prestigious vocal ensemble The Marian Consort will be directing our first Strictly Singing Workshop of 2023!

From Friday 3rd – Sunday 5th February we will be working on a repertoire focussing on William Byrd and his contemporary Thomas Weelkes (2023 will be the 400th anniversary of their deaths).

The programme will include some of Byrd’s most beautiful pieces, such as Agnus Dei from his Mass for Four Voices, Justorum animae and Beati mundo corde from Propers for All Saints and Ave Verum Corpus from Propers for Corpus Christi. Works by Thomas Weelkes will include Death Hath Deprived Me, The Nightingale and Hosanna to the Son of David.

We will be rehearsing on Friday evening (18.00-21.00) and all day Saturday (10.00-17.00). On Sunday, we have been invited to sing with the American Cathedral Choir at the morning service, and after lunch, we will give a short concert at the Cathedral. The weekend will be followed by a post concert reception.

We would love to have you all join us for this programme!
